Need an opinion please...

Hey peeps,
I am just after an honest answer:
I'm half way through working on a new little project. But would it look ok if the eyes on the skull are different? Unless I keep this particular piece as an advertiser then it wouldn't really matter as long as I get the rest all pairing up nicely and coordinating.
It's going great this piece of my project, a little fiddly but enjoyable. Sorry I'm not saying what it is I'm working on but I'm sure you will love it when I show them off. ;-)
See ya soon crafters x

Halt in the land of craft!

Hey crafters!
Sorry it's been over a month since I last posted a blog post but here I am. I haven't done that much crafting to be honest with you, just the odd bits.
However I've been working on my little felt skulls which have been fun. I was asked to make one for young lad who's mum I speak to online and his feedback was really good. It made me feel truly happy especially as I've made a young lad happy in the process. They're really good to make because I can get one done in a few days.
Today I've bought a few new craft goodies, like magnetic strips, buttons, some new Cath Kidston style tape which is really really nice and faux suede craft cord. I will be getting some long ball wire silver plated parts to make long earrings with as soon as I can so I can carry on furthering my skull project, but I'm also going to incorporate hearts into the project. So there'll be more of a choice.
I've never done any jewellery making before so I have felt a little hesitant but decided to have a go. My collection will be unique and will hopefully stand out from the crowd which is my aim whilst maintaining appeal to them. :-)
So far going off a list at the top off my head, I've done some hand decorated photo frames, and a few skulls. I need to make some more cards although I have still got a good handful from my last craft stall, there's a glass jar to decorate and start my new things with the skulls and hearts. It's all exciting and probably sounds a bit vague but I do want to keep a few things hush hush.
If you have any ideas, comments or anything the please feel free to contact me. See you soon x

Skull for birthday card & other misc.

Hey up crafters,

How's your crafting coming along? What are your inspirations for crafting? Please share with me your inspirations.
Just a few days ago I was working on my new craft project; the skull project that is. It's slowly but surely coming along nicely now. I've spent quite a few hours doodling and sketching ideas to see what I can do and like. I ended up deciding to draw a skull wearing a hat and a bow tie which had been picked out of thousands to be added to a birthday card to a member of the Backstreet Boys by the boys themselves. Unfortunately not everyone had theirs added but at least they made the effort. It's funny really as when I was drawing it, I had no intention of it being used for a card but glad that I did. I know I still need to come up with more ideas for the skull theme so as time goes on over the next week or so, I will keep researching and sketching new ideas, maybe hopefully moving over to colour.
I do want to try and stitch a skull together this weekend but not sure whether to have it flat or stuffed like my Christmas tree decs? So far I'm thinking bookmarks, door hangers and maybe key rings... I know I should just do one thing at a time but I'm so keen to see how my ideas look in reality.
Another thing I'm testing out at the moment is a little wooden photo frame that I want to decorate. I can't wait to have a play around and see what ideas I come up with. Buttons might look nice, don't you think?
Easter may be around three months away but time will fly by so fast and I don't want to be overloading myself with lots of projects that need doing/finishing at like a month beforehand. I want to steady myself and enjoy crafting as I go along. One thing I have learned from my previous stall is that enough is never enough so every little thing that I do here and there now is one thing extra that's done.
What ideas do you have that I may like to do? Please share with me. Let me know what you think. See you soon crafters xxx

Ps you will see my picture that was picked by the BSB for the birthday card on my Instagram account: Instagram.com/dinkykt :-)

Zebra Project

Hello everyone!!
I want to tell you about a zebra project that I was working on earlier in the year. I run a Facebook page raising awareness about Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and following my charity fundraising progress 'Dinkykts EDS Diaries'.
I needed a header for it and I wanted something personal and different to other pages so I decided to draw my own.
I researched different zebra illustrations so I can then decide how I want my zebra to look. I didn't want a realistic looking one. In the end it came down to two drawings and once it was up, I felt very proud as I had done the work all by myself.
I started it off with sketching pencils (Derwent) and progressed to ink. It didn't take me too long to do it once I started it. It was the first time that I have actually drawn anything to do with animals. So you can say that I surprised myself with the finished product!
Now I even have a self inking stamp with my header logo and to see it on cards and bags (the paper ones I used on my craft stall), it was a good achievement for me.
What do you think of it?

Sunday 8 December 2013

Hello and welcome!!

So this is my first blog post and I'd like to begin with saying hello to you. This is the place where I can fully keep you up to date with all the crafting that I do.
I will start my blog with the success of my first craft stall. I raised a good amount and did really well with customers loving my products!
I made felt Christmas tree decorations which consisted of stockings, hearts, Christmas puddings, birds, baubles, penguins and even Christmas trees. I also made felt bookmarks which were either hearts or owls. I decorated plain glass jars and filled them with sweets or pot purri. There was a collection of cards, these were made for all occasions but mainly for the christmas festive season. There were other things on the stall ie, knitted doll clothing and egg cosies but they weren't made by myself.
I thoroughly enjoyed selling my products and seeing the expressions on the customers' faces when they were browsing at the things. All the hard work and time that I put into making these crafts, definitely made worthwhile by the experience of stall holding.
Anyway, I do hope that you enjoy reading this blog and maybe find some craft inspiration for you to start crafting if you're not already doing so... I will leave you with some pics from the stall and a few of the products, bye!!
